On February 5, the Final Fantasy XIV team held the 2021 Announcement Showcase. While many things were revealed, it was dedicated to revealing Endwalker — the next expansion for the MMORPG. Here’s everything you need to know about the event. The new expansion means a new major set quest line, and Endwalker's story will show the Warriors of Light their biggest challenge to date.
Like most MMOs, you need to learn the tricks if you really want to make FFXIV Gil and do them well.
FINAL FANTASY XIV: Endwalker features multiple new dungeons, each full of new challenges for you to overcome. Not only that, but the Trust system has been expanded. Introduced in FINAL FANTASY XIV: Shadowbringers, it allows you to bring NPCs into dungeons with you, so if you don’t want to team up with other players, you can bring some of your favorite NPC companions instead. It brings the anticipated climax to the story of Hydaelyn and Zodiark, and shows your heroes an even greater catastrophe than before - the second coming of the End Age. If everyone feels desperate, the countless conflicts that destroy the land can only be seen as the end of life at its source. Revealing more would spoil the fun -- but enough to say this will be an epic story that rewards longtime fans and inspires new ones.
As expected by the new expansion, Final Fantasy XIV players will be able to level up their characters all the way up to 90, compared to the current ceiling of 80. We don't know if Blue Mages will be included, but seeing how this work is done increases the level cap to 70, it's very likely that Blue Mages will reach 90 during the Endwalker patch cycle. The next healer position, Sage, is new to Final Fantasy 14 and uses weapons called Nouliths. Nouliths fire energy blasts and help you block Allies, which means Sage will sit next to the Scholar as a shield-based healer. To balance this, astronomers' work will be directed more directly towards treatment. To unlock Sage, the player must talk to Limsa Lominsa's NPC, and the quest is unlocked at level 70. You also need to have other jobs already at level 70 to unlock Sage.
Finally, players will be able to hang out with their friends across data centers. This system is still being worked on, but the developers said that players would have to re-login to the game in order to change data centers. The PlayStation 5 version of FINAL FANTASY XIV Online will release as an open beta on April 13, 2021. It features numerous upgrades from the PS4 version: significantly improved frame rates, faster load times, 4K resolution support, and more. Hydaelyn will never have looked better. If you have the PS4 version of the game, you can upgrade to the PS5 version at no extra cost at the start of the open beta period. New players can start their adventures on the PS5 once the open beta beings with the Free Trial, with the full version of the game being available to purchase following the conclusion of the open beta.
